A Bit More About Me: A Passion for Mental Wellness
How Watching Films Enriches My Therapy Practice
As a mental health counselor, I believe in the importance of balance and personal growth, which is why I pursue various fun hobbies outside of my practice. One of my biggest passions is watching films. I enjoy exploring different genres, especially those that dive deep into psychology, human emotions, and mental health. Films allow me to view different perspectives and enrich my understanding of the human experience, something I bring into my counseling sessions.
Improving Communication Skills Through Improv
In addition to my love for film, I regularly take improv classes. Improv has been instrumental in enhancing my communication skills and ability to think on my feet, both of which are essential in my role as a counselor. It also fosters creativity and encourages me to remain present, an important aspect of mindfulness and mental well-being. Plus, it’s a great way to laugh and learn!
A Green-ish Thumb: Finding Peace and Fulfillment
Recently, I’ve taken up gardening as a way to unwind and connect with nature. Gardening has become a therapeutic activity for me, offering a sense of peace and fulfillment. It reminds me of the importance of nurturing both plants and people, as they both require patience and care to grow. It’s a good time and a great way to relax.
Continued Learning and Staying Informed on Mental Health Trends
While I strive to read every morning, focusing on self-help, psychology, and personal development books, I don’t always succeed. Still, I believe in the power of continued learning and staying informed on the latest mental health trends and research, which I integrate into my therapy practice to better support my clients. It’s a fun challenge that keeps me engaged and informed.
